Dave’s Bernina Moves to New Location in Provo

Dave’s Bernina Moves to New Location in Provo

Provo, Utah (January 18, 2017) — This week Dave’s Bernina announced plans to move their operations to a new location in Provo. Ryan Myers of CBC Advisors represented Dave’s Bernina in both the sale of their old location and the purchase of their new one.

“To put these deals together took a lot of persistence and hard work from all that were involved, but it was worth every bit of effort,” said Myers. “I’m excited for Dave’s Bernina and the opportunity and potential their new location will bring for them and their business.”

Dave’s Bernina, a family-owned retailer of Bernina sewing machines and equipment, opened on Provo Center Street in 1960 and is currently operated by the sons of founder Dave Borget, Richard and Rod. The family enjoyed their downtown storefront, but the business was getting too big to operate at their current location.

“We’ve loved being downtown, but we need to grow,” said Richard Borget. “At our new store we’ll have bigger classrooms and more space for events. It will be better for everyone.”

Dave’s Bernina has earned the title of Top Bernina Distributor every year for decades. Their new location, just off of University Parkway at 2017 N 550 W, will take them from 3,920 square feet of space to just over 5,000 and offer additional parking and an overall better layout.

“We ended up negotiating on this deal four or five times with multiple different property owners,” said Myers. “The original seller went with another buyer, who we later ended up coming to terms with. Luckily, everything fell into place in the end and everyone stuck in there to make this deal possible, including an outstanding job by the lender, Troy Stringham from First Capital Commercial.”

Canyon Culinary Inc. Concludes Historic Renovation

Canyon Culinary Inc. Concludes Historic Renovation

Canyon Culinary Inc. finished its restoration of approximately 8,400 square feet in the historic Salt Lake City Fire Station No. 8 building and opened doors to the newest Porcupine Pub & Grille located on 1300 East in Downtown Salt Lake City.

“The Restoration of Fire Station No. 8 exemplifies the quality approach to business with which Canyon Culinary Inc. operates,” said Whit Cluff, commercial broker at CBC Advisors who organized the building sale. “Whether pushing the quality limits of food, service, or real estate, Byron and Bryan exceed expectations with their incredible attention to detail.”

Porcupine Pub & Grille opened its first location at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon in 1998 with the vision of creating the perfect gathering place for skiers, mountain bikers, outdoor enthusiasts, families, and friends to come relax and enjoy great food while meeting new friends and experiencing exceptional service. The porcupine believes strongly in supporting the local community and has taken the time to establish a menu and bar offering that reflect local culture. The restaurant produces homemade food and taps 24 locally crafted brews. The Porcupine at Fire Station will serve the same menu as the Porcupine in Cottonwood Heights.

Fire Station No. 8, the second oldest visually intact fire station in Salt Lake City, is historically significant in documenting the expansion and development of the firefighting service in Salt Lake City. The building was constructed in 1930 to serve the east bench area, one of the fastest growing residential areas at that time. The sale of Fire Station No. 8, which had been listed at $1.5 million, about $500,000 under appraisal, was finalized in early 2014. Partners, Byron Loveall and Bryan O’Meara, led restoration efforts to infuse the modern style of the Porcupine Pub & Grille into the 85-year-old building while preserving many original Fire Sation No. 8 features that had faded away as the property passed through a series of owners.

“A big congratulations to this group for the accomplishments achieved during 18 challenging months of development,” said Cluff. “This new Porcupine location marks an opportunity to create a landmark establishment for the community while creating more opportunity to reward a talented staff.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
